Worry Not

Worry not, my friends, for I have returned to the realm of the internet in order to grace you with my words.

It has been some time since I posted an update to my writings and what I’ve been up to, so there’s a lot to catch you up on. First off, I’ve yet to hear anything back from the publishers that I submitted stories to, so keep holding your breath. I’m expecting a response from at least one within the next week because that’s when they said they’d get back to me. But, alas, I still play the waiting game with several stories.

Several other stories, however, received some great feedback and critiques from fellow forum members over at SFFWorld.com. I entered a short story contest and got a lot of likes from people, and left another, longer story in the workshop forum to get some beta readers on it. Both now have positive edits just waiting to be applied so I can send them out to publishers as well.

But I am starting to drift away from short stories and focus on my next big project. There is a novella/novelette contest, 7,500 to 40,000 words, that I’m entering with a sci-fi/horror story. The theme for the contest is “Controlling Parents”, and I have a grand story cooked up for it. I outlined it on 9 pages by hand, front and back, and have it set to about 7 chapters and just under 40,000 words. The story is good, I cranked out the first two chapters earlier today, but I only have a month to get it finalized since the deadline isn’t that far away. So I’m going back to my old stomping ground, the library, to get away from any distractions at home and focus entirely on writing.

In other news, I had cookies and cream ice cream for dessert last night, and it tasted amazing. Thought you ought to know.

See you next time!
